Form 4 artists visit superb art venues

Last week saw Form 4 artists visiting two superb art venues, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth.

Director of Art, Mrs Elinor Brass tells us more:-

“It was a glorious day to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP), which has around 100 sculptural pieces within its grounds set in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.  We were lucky with the weather so the students explored the grounds, making drawings and taking photographs of artworks in order to take lots of ideas back to the classroom. The students also visited the ‘Robert Indiana’ exhibition in the indoor galleries, which was full of vibrant pieces from his illustrious sixty year career.

As well as YSP, the students also visited The Hepworth, Wakefield which has a stunning collection of Barbara Hepworth’s sculptural work set in a dynamic, purpose-built gallery.  In addition, there was an exhibition of work by the textile artist Sheila Hicks.  This show was full of colour and used the space and materials in a playful way.  It was a pleasure to take the students and great to be going out to visit galleries again.”
