Fantastic first weekend of boarding

Oakham’s boarders have had a fantastic first weekend of the new school year, taking part in all sorts of activities and trips.

Lower School boarders had Art, DT and cooking activities followed by swimming and film night on Saturday. On Sunday they attended their first Chapel service and had a tour of the town quiz, with some extra time to do some shopping.

Haywoods boys thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Rutland Water, took part in a little outdoor cooking and joined in with a fun family singalong.

Stevens House girls enjoyed their first BBQ, ball games, baking and bonding. Housemistress of Stevens, Emma Roe said, “The girls have had a blast and it has been a lovely opportunity for them to get to know each other better.”

Buchanans girls took part in some fun games organised by the new prefect team, while on Sunday they took part in team-building and problem-solving activities. Housemistress of Buchanans Carly Latham said, “Week one has been busy with lots going on but this weekend was about connecting as a House.”

Whaflands boys had a BBQ and a quiz to round off a busy week. They attended Chapel on Sunday before having a great time at the Rutland Aquapark. They also had time to relax and enjoyed a movie night.

Finally Form 7 attended the Headmaster’s Dinner on Friday night, which was preceded by a drinks reception with parents in Deanscroft Garden. School House boys also had a small get-together in their common room on Saturday evening.
