European Day of Languages 2021

To mark European Day of Languages the Modern Foreign Languages Faculty ran a variety of fun activities.

In lessons pupils completed challenges connected to languages, such as identifying different European languages, signing in a foreign language and choosing their favourite foreign word.

Langauge staff organised a European Snack Station at breaktime offering pupils a selection of snacks from France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

There was a European themed lunch in the School Dining Hall, The Barraclough. Dishes included French Onion Soup, Bratwurst Hotdogs with French Fries and Sauerkraut and Spanish Chicken Tortilla.

Pupils in Form 2 have also been creating images that portray what learning another language means to them and how it can enhance their lives. The best three entries will win a prize.

This day promotes plurilingualism and has been celebrated annually since 2001. Thanks go to all the children for taking part so willingly and thanks to the staff involved for generously giving up their time to take part.
