The Spanish Department have gone Mexican crazy this week. To celebrate El Día de Los Muertos, the department has been festooned with decorations celebrating this important Mexican cultural event.
Form 2 were treated to a lively and entertaining presentation given by one of our Spanish assistants, Jacob, who explained to the pupils about the traditions, origins and symbolism of this fascinating celebration from his own country.
Dressed as a Catrín (the female version of the Catrina) and donning a mariachi sombrero, Jacob brought the festival to life for our pupils, even captivating our pupils by singing a traditional Día de Los Muertos song, solo with his impressive voice.
After the presentation, the children then had fun decorating cookies in the style of Día de Los Muertos with colourful calaveras (skulls).
