Cricket Team Members Raising Money for Rutland Foodbank

Oakhamians past and present are raising money for Rutland Foodbank by running or cycling the equivalent distance from Oakham Cricket Club to The Grange in Edinburgh in just 7 days.

Current Oakham School pupils Will and Ollie, Old Oakhamian Charlie Baker (12), and teacher of Design Technology, Tom Banham, together with five fellow members of Oakham Cricket Club, started the virtual 614-mile round trip on Sunday 26 April from their home ground in Oakham to The Grange Cricket Club, the regular home of the Scotland national cricket team. They are now halfway through the challenge that will finish on Saturday 2 May.

The teammates are using their daily exercise to cycle or run around Rutland and then are recording the distances travelled to build towards the final total.

Tom said, “Oakham Cricket Club is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and whilst the team isn’t able to play together in the usual way, we are glad to have the chance to get the team together virtually to support a good local cause.”

The team is aiming to raise £1,000 for our local Foodbanks, so if you can help them reach this target, please visit their Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/oakhamcc
