Congratulations to Captain Duncan Wright on the award of his Cadet Forces Medal

CCF Officer and Teacher of Geography Duncan Wright has been awarded the Cadet Forces Medal in recognition of his long and dedicated service to the Combined Cadet Force (CCF).

The Cadet Forces Medal has been awarded since 1950 to all Cadet commissioned and non-commissioned officers with 12 years’ service. Duncan was recently presented with his medal by Oakham School’s Headmaster Henry Price.

Captain Duncan Wright’s ongoing career with the British Army as a Reservist spans over 25 years. He has been a volunteer officer with the CCF at Oakham ever since he joined the School in 2010 having originally Commissioned in 2004 with a contingent at a previous school. His extensive experience and knowledge of teaching, leadership and management have been indispensable to Oakham’s successful CCF Contingent.

CCF Contingent Commanding Officer Lt Col Taylor said: “Duncan’s award is well deserved and recognises his selfless commitment, energy and determination.”

Oakham School’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) consists of Army and RAF sections and seeks to develop qualities of leadership, teamwork, resilience, resourcefulness and responsibility within the cadets. These are personal qualities that will remain of value throughout the cadets’ lives and will undoubtedly assist in the early stages of their chosen careers.
