Chemistry Olympiad Success!

Congratulations to the seven Form 7 Chemists who won certificates in the 2021 Chemistry Olympiad, a prestigious competition run by the Royal Society of Chemistry!

William, Matthew and Adam won Gold awards, Felix won a Silver award and Sarah, Liberty and Isabelle won Bronze.

The competition is open to all Upper School pupils in the UK, and despite the lockdown, over 7100 students took part nationally. The Olympiad gives pupils the chance to develop and enhance their critical problem-solving skills, and to test their knowledge in a real-world situation.

Head of Chemistry Jo Griffiths said, “These results reflect a great deal of hard work by our pupils and highlights their academic ambitions. I am proud of their achievements, particularly given the current difficult circumstances.”

In the Upper School at Oakham, pupils can study Chemistry at A-level or the International Baccalaureate. Chemical Engineering, Natural Sciences and Medicine are popular options to read at university, including Oxbridge. Oakham offers various ways to inspire pupils to take their study of Chemistry beyond School.
