Oakham’s School’s chamber choir has embarked on a performing tour of churches in Paris, France.
Saturday 8 July will see the choir perform at an early evening concert at the Deutsche Evangelische Christuskirche, Paris’ German Protestant church.
On Sunday, the group will be participating in mass at the iconic Église Saint-Sulpice in Paris’ 6th arrondissement. The choir will then be performing an afternoon concert at The American Cathedral in Paris.
Monday’s afternoon concert is taking place in the stunning setting of the Église de la Madeleine in the heart of Paris, a short walk up Rue Royale from Place de la Concorde and Rue Champs-Élysées.
The choir is performing a different programme for each concert, covering a broad spectrum of choral music from Franz Joseph Haydn to Ēriks Ešenvalds.
For this tour, the choir is being led by a special guest choirmaster, Quintin Beer. Quintin is Director of Music at St Peter’s College, Oxford, and a hugely experienced musician, choir director and conductor.
The choir will be accompanied by organist Nicholas Tall.
Between concerts, the choristers have an exciting programme of activities in store, including a visit to Musée d’Orsay, a boat tour on the river Seine and spot of sight-seeing from atop the 210m Tour Montparnasse.
