Boarding Half Term

October Half Term saw many international boarders spend their time at Oakham School as restrictions to international travel remained in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I was very pleased with how the pupils adapted to life here at the School during the holidays”, says Conrad Nancarrow, Facilities Manager and co-organiser of their stay. “They were a pleasure to host and their positive attitude about the situation was wonderful to see. They made use of our excellent facilities on site and enjoyed the trips and activities from visiting Cambridge to taking part in Rumble Laser tag. ”

Senior Housemistress Carly Latham added, “There seemed to be a perfect blend of downtime and activity. The pupils all seemed in good spirits, and I heard lots of laughter and enjoyment. The staff were amazing, making their stay as enjoyable as possible.”

Comments from boarders about their Half Term at Oakham include:-

“There was a lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere.”

“The trips and activities were great including Zorbing and visiting Oxford and Cambridge. We also loved having a Pilates class every day.”

“We loved being able to make our own Carbonara” (two Italian girls)

“The trips were good, and I enjoyed experiencing boarding in another House within the School. It was great fun, and I would do it again.”

A huge thank you to all the staff involved for helping to make the boarders’ Half Term such a success. Oakham will also be offering all boarders the option to remain in School during the Spring and Summer Half Terms, as well as the Easter holiday.
