Congratulations to the eight Form 7 Biologists who won certificates in the annual Biology Olympiad, a prestigious competition run by the Royal Society of Biology.
Isaac, Isabel and Emma won Gold awards, William and Zena won Silver and Sylvia won Bronze.
Well done also to Varvara who received a high commendation and Madeleine who received a commendation from the OlympiadAssociation.
This year the competition attracted 9520 students all over the world and consisted of two, 45-minute multiple choice papers taken online. The test enables pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and encourages them to continue to study the subject beyond School.
Head of Biology, Dr Patricia Ingles, said, “We are absolutely delighted with the results in what is a challenging competition. It is great to see the pupils commitment to the subject and their desire to stretch themselves beyond the confines of their current study.”
Biology is a popular subject at Oakham and the department is a well-resourced and vibrant learning environment. Its nine experienced and enthusiastic Biology Teachers combine exciting teaching methods and academic rigour to teach its innovative courses.
