Another Busy Oakham School Weekend

Oakham School’s boarding community has enjoyed another busy weekend full of fun.

Friday evening saw a Form 4 social, whilst Saturday saw boarders come together for events in The Barraclough and in House. Sunday was a day of sporting action, with all Houses competing in the Tom Grant Football Festival.

Form 4 Social

Form 4 came together for a Friday night social in BAFS Pavilion. Friendly competition was in abundance during the array of board and card games that were played over the evening. These games were a catalyst for fun and laughter seen between students from all Houses.

Boarders’ Pyjama Dinner

All boarders came together for a comfortable night of fun on Saturday at the Boarders’ Pyjama Dinner. The Barraclough dining hall was filled with hoodies, tracksuit bottoms and pyjamas as our boarders indulged in some good food and drinks together.

Chapmans and Buchanans Form 6 Social

Buchanans’ Form 6 accompanied their Chapmans’ counterparts in the Chapmans common room for drinks and snacks on Saturday night. The group made the most of the social space with the pool table constantly in use. The event was a great opportunity for inter-House socialising in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Tom Grant Football Festival

Sunday saw the 14th Annual Tom Grant Football Festival, held in memory of late Old Oakhamian Tom Grant (’05). Taking place on Wilson Fields, all Houses – both day and boarding – competed for the Champions League replica trophy.

After a day of friendly competition, Hambleton House was crowned victorious and got to take home the coveted trophy.

Honourable mentions are due to Wharflands and Barrow Houses, winners of the boys’ senior and U15 tournaments respectively.
