Form 6 pupil Adam has been awarded a prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.
The purpose of the scholarship scheme, which is run by educational charity The Smallpeice Trust, is to inspire and encourage students to pursue their dreams and change the world as an outstanding engineer of the future.
Adam, who joined Oakham School in Lower 1, is an existing Design & Technology Scholar. The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship was awarded following a rigorous selection process, including a written application, an aptitude exam and an interview.
The scholarship will give Adam access to a dedicated engineering mentor, industry networking opportunities and personal development programmes.
Adam is known within Oakham School for having a keen eye for product design and an entrepreneurial spirit. During lockdown in 2020, he designed and produced a standing desk, initially as a gift for his father.
After generating interest amongst friends and family, Adam decided to refine the design and upscale production. He then began selling the desks online with the profits going to two different charities: FareShare and Marathon Kids UK.
