A successful return to play for Oakham’s Tennis players

Over the Summer term Oakham tennis players have seen plenty of success on their return to playing competitive fixtures, after a nearly two-year gap.

Whilst all the teams have had some fantastic moments a special mention does need to go to the U15A Girls (Bella, Violet, Izzi, Joanna, Fran, Olivia and Daisy) who remained unbeaten all term. Furthermore, well done to the U12B Girls (Holly, Jessica, Eva, Imogen, Sophia W, Hettie  and Sophia C) who also had a clean sweep.

Congratulations to the 1st pair of the 1st team, Lauren and Annie who from 24 sets played over this term only dropped 4 sets.

Assistant Director of Sport and Tennis (Girls) Peta Girdwood said, “Our tennis players have relished the opportunity to get back to playing competitive matches and it has been a really enjoyable term for them. There have been successful results, but they have also learned new skills and gained competition experience. I know they will be pushing hard to improve their performances even further next term.”

Tennis is one of Oakham’s major sports in the Summer Term. Girls have the opportunity to play from the Lower School all the way through to Form 6 and boys from Lower 1 to Form 7.
