Last night saw three Oakhamians, four Old Oakhamians and an Oakham teacher play in the Repton Cup, a friendly league tournament.
The Cup consists of matches between the elite clubs of Loughborough University, Belper HC, the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, and Leicester City.
Last night’s game was between Leicester City and Loughborough University, with OO Maddie Pearce playing for Loughborough and the rest of the Oakhamians (Orla, Georgia and Daisy), teacher (Katie Long) and OOs (Alice Page, Kitty Bridgewood, and Caitlin Jeffries) playing for Leicester City.
Teacher of PE and Leicester City Hockey Club player Katie Long said, “It was amazing to see so many Oakhamians and Old Oakhamians playing together, and having so much fun. The fact that so many pupils and alumni are playing in a high-performance environment, mixing with other top players, is a testament to the passion, energy and enthusiasm created within the Oakham hockey programme. We are now looking forward to enjoying more matches together and preparing for the league’s return.”
