Students need to be prepared for their future by being equipped to access, handle and use information. They should have the skills and attributes to ask and answer questions for themselves.
We don’t treat inquiry learning as a ‘bolt on’ at Oakham, nor do we assume that pupils will simply pick up these skills along their learning journey.
FOSIL (Framework Of Skills for Inquiry Learning) embeds across the curriculum, and is designed to help our students master the ability to learn by finding out for themselves.
We believe so strongly that children learn best through inquiry that we have set up The FOSIL Group, a growing community of schools and education professionals constructing a shared understanding of what it will take to make this a reality. The Group is open to anyone with an interest in inquiry learning and a willingness to share their experiences with others.
