Science and Chemistry are continuing in full force during this period of distant learning with live lessons enabling pupils to carry on asking questions and exploring their ideas with their teachers.
Welcome To Oakham
Oakham School is an Inspirational place, where opportunities abound, talent is nurtured and characters are formed.
At Oakham, we aim to provide an education that not only acts as a preparation for life after school, but also recognises that these years are precious and should be enjoyable, memorable, and transformative.
When Oakham School switched to distance learning for the remainder of the Spring term and the duration of the Summer term, teachers and pupils quickly learned to adapt to new technology.
Last term saw Lower 1 and Form 1 Science classes successfully studying electricity as well as space and gravity and other topics, in a remote learning environment.
This half-term pupils from the four Houses of the Lower School are jointly taking part in the Fab 4 Charity Challenge to raise money for Rainbows Hospice and LIV Villages.
The girls in Gunthorpe House have been sending uplifting messages, cards, drawings and paintings to local care homes in the Rutland area, after hearing that they were struggling in these difficult times.
Old Oakhamian Abigail Mustard (15), Information Officer for the Rutland Osprey Project, has been keeping everyone up-to-date with video commentary and blog posts as part of the Rutland Osprey Home School initiative.
A new composition by Old Oakhamian, Morgan Edward Overton (18), will be sending a message of hope to BBC Radio 3 audiences as part of the BBC’s ‘Culture in Quarantine’ arts festival.
Congratulations to Form 1 pupil, Joe, and Form 6 pupil, Toby, who are the winners in their respective age categories of this year’s Creative Writing Competition!
This is such a friendly school, everyone is so welcoming
Give 100% in everything you do and you will be amazed by what you can achieve
My name is Catherine and I have the privilege of being one of the Heads of School this year. I started at Oakham in the second term of Form 3, in Hambleton House...

My name is Alex and I am your Deputy Head Boy this year. I joined Oakham in Form 3 from a prep school called Spratton Hall in Northamptonshire.
Alex - DEPUTY HEAD BOY
My name is Alex and I have the honour of being this year’s Head Boy. As a nervous and reserved thirteen-year-old, I was fairly apprehensive at starting my time at Oakham in Form 3, as it is a big school compared to my prep school, Witham Hall.
