Welcome To Oakham
Oakham School is an Inspirational place, where opportunities abound, talent is nurtured and characters are formed.
At Oakham, we aim to provide an education that not only acts as a preparation for life after school, but also recognises that these years are precious and should be enjoyable, memorable, and transformative.
Old Oakhamian Stuart Broad has firmly secured his place as one of the world's finest cricketers after taking his 500th wicket in Test Cricket.
The annual 1584 Society luncheon may have been cancelled this year, but the members found a way to come together through a virtual cocktail hour, hosted by our new 1584 Society President, Peter Lawson. An OO (‘60), former parent and trustee, Peter took over stewardship of Oakham’s giving society just before the pandemic struck, so this was his first event as the society president.
Nine Form 5 Religion and Philosophy pupils who entered essays for the New College of the Humanities’ (NCH) new School Certificate in Philosophy have received high praise from the examiners for their excellent research and writing skills.
In a year like no other, the first examination results of Summer 2020 are now in with students from Oakham, as well as across the world, celebrating their IB Diploma results.
The staff in the Art department have been impressed by how innovative and resourceful all the pupils have been this term, sharing their experiences of lockdown and considering their own environment.
For a long time, Oakham has used the phrase ‘Learning isn’t limited to the classroom’. Never before has this been truer than this term. With classrooms closed and learning taking place at home – the kitchen table, or pupils’ studies or bedrooms, have replaced classrooms and science labs!
Oakham’s innovative Academic Cornerstone Course (ACC) culminated this week with the announcement of the ACC Challenge award winners.
Our alumni community have continued to support the School during lockdown, inspiring our pupils via online lectures and interviews.

Alex - DEPUTY HEAD BOY
My name is Alex and I have the honour of being this year’s Head Boy. As a nervous and reserved thirteen-year-old, I was fairly apprehensive at starting my time at Oakham in Form 3, as it is a big school compared to my prep school, Witham Hall.
