Form 6 Students Excel at International MUN Conference in the Netherlands

19th June 2025

A group of Form 6 students have returned from a highly successful Model United Nations (MUN) Conference in Alkmaar, Holland, where they demonstrated the skills they’ve been developing over the past year in diplomacy, research, and public speaking.

Representing Greece in both UN and NATO committees, the students joined peers from across Europe to tackle pressing global issues through rigorous debate, negotiation, and collaboration. Their role involved researching international policies, lobbying for support, and crafting resolutions aimed at making a difference on the world stage.

Reflecting on the experience, Head of Politics, Laurence Ward, commented: “Our students had the opportunity to develop creative solutions to real-world problems, strengthen their public speaking and negotiation skills, and form strategic alliances – all with the goal of passing impactful resolutions.”

The MUN experience extends far beyond the conference itself. It includes weeks of preparation, from researching assigned countries to understanding and articulating perspectives that may differ from their own. Students work together – sometimes with friends, sometimes with new collaborators – to represent nations from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, engaging with some of the most complex and urgent challenges facing the global community.
