Celebrating Excellent GCSE Results 2026

Oakham School students are marking another excellent year of GCSE achievement, with success evident across the breadth of the School’s curriculum – accomplishments comprised of individual stories of hard work and resilience, and individualised support from their teachers.

This year’s cohort achieved an impressive 94% Grades 9-4, with students displaying excellence across a range of subjects. 17% of results were Grade 9s, 34% Grade 9–8s, equivalent to straight A*s. Almost half of all results were Grade 9-7, with 21 students reaching this exceptional standard, which is equivalent to straight A*/As.

Subject highlights included 30 students scoring only Grades 9 and 8 across the two English GCSEs. There were also excellent performances across the STEAM subjects, with Art and Design, DT, and the Sciences producing standout results, and 12 students taking on the challenge of Mathematics, with the addition of Further Mathematics and the Algebra Award. Nearly half of all History and Geography grades were awarded at 9-8 (49% and 47% respectively), while Latin and Music achieved exceptional 9-8 rates of 69% and 67%.

Head, Lucy Pearson, said:

“We could not be more pleased for our GCSE students, whose hard work has been rewarded with excellent results. These outcomes represent an important milestone and are a cause for real celebration. Exam results are of course only one measure of success – our students contribute enormously to the life of the School through their interests, character and service to others, and we celebrate every one of their achievements.”

“We are delighted to be welcoming this cohort back into Sixth Form in September, where they will continue to develop their academic passions, broaden their horizons and prepare for the opportunities, responsibilities and possibilities of life beyond school.”
