COVID-19 Coronavirus Information

From the early stages of the outbreak of the Covid 19 virus, the School has been closely and pro-actively following the guidance and advice from the Boarding Schools’ Association.  This guidance is based on the scientific advice of SAGE and the UK Chief Medical Officers.

We will continue to update all members of the Oakham School community (parents, pupils and staff) as frequently as necessary.  This website page serves to provide our community and visitors with easy access to our latest protocols.

Need to report online or offline bullying? Do you have a safeguarding concern? Are you worried about someone’s safety? Send an anonymous Whisper Report and a member of the Oakham DSL team will respond swiftly to your concern.

Keeping our community safe

We have spent a great deal of time and care putting rigorous measures in place that will help keep all members of our community safe.

Our extensive protocols are even more wide-ranging than the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) COVID-Safe Charter that we, like other boarding schools across the country have signed.

Our safety measures include:

Three timetables that ensure we can easily move and adapt our teaching and learning, including our fully embedded face-to-face distance learning, should it be required.

Enhanced cleaning of all School buildings and proactive encouragement of consistent handwashing via 170+ sanitising stations placed around the School.

New one-way systems that are clearly signposted to ensure ease of movement around the campus.

Clear quarantine, isolation and testing procedures, including our own on-site testing facility, for pupils and staff on return to School and throughout the term.

The wearing of face coverings when walking around the campus.

Staggered timings for lunchtime sittings and socially distanced dining.

Clearly organised community ‘bubbles’ to minimise and track contact between groups.
