Oakham pupils visit Roman Baths Museum

Form 3 Latin students recently travelled to Bath, to see the Roman Baths Museum and examine first-hand some of the artefacts that appear in their textbooks.

Head of Classics, Dr Will Leveritt, said, "Pupils were impressed by the steaming water emerging from the ground and the amazing remains of the Roman structure. The lead piping and the underfloor heating were particularly impressive, as was the enormous brick spine supporting the huge high roof with which pupils came face to face. Particularly interesting was the display of curse tablets or defixiones."
