Lower School boarders create Schultüten

In this week’s International Games Club, Lower School boarders learnt how children in Germany traditionally receive a decorated cone shaped bag or “Schultüte” to celebrate their first day of School. They are filled with toys, stationery and sweets and are usually a highlight of the pupils’ day.

The Lower School boarders were tasked with making their own Schultüten and had great fun creating colourful and fancy cones during the activity.

Teacher of German Mr Jordan and the German Language Assistant Mr Jaeckel said, "The pupils were enthusiastic and it was great to see them appreciating another culture and tradition. It was also wonderful to see their creativity and we were impressed with the results."

The International Games Club is an activity offered to L1 and F1 boarders, which gives them an opportunity to learn a few words, traditions and games from German and Spanish speaking cultures.
