Launching The Oakham School Podcast

In celebration of 50 years of co-education, Oakham School has launched its first podcast series for the community to enjoy.

The Oakham School Podcast is a collaborative effort from teaching and support staff, along with pupils, and is set to cover a variety of interesting and thought-provoking topics which represent life at the School.

Starting with the 50 years of co-education theme, the inaugural episode explores what it means to be a truly co-educational school.

Hosted by Headmaster Henry Price, the episode includes comments from Old Oakhamians (OOs) who were at the School when co-education was introduced, as well as an interview with current pupils on how co-education benefits them in today’s society.

The episode finishes with a quickfire quiz, putting the pupils’ knowledge of Oakham School and co-education to the test.

Other members of staff who contributed to this opening instalment include Director of Music Peter Davis, who composed the music and Director of Drama, Gilly Norell, who provided the voiceover and a ‘50 years in 50 seconds’ segment in the episode.

Biology Teacher and OO Mrs Sue Healey also shared her experiences of the early years of co-education, holding the honour of being the first ever girl to be registered at the School.

The next episode will cover how co-education benefits the Creative and Performing Arts, which will be a conversation between Art, Design Technology, Drama and Music.
