Following on from the success of last year’s issues, we have once again given double billing to both magazines, with each publication having its own front cover.
The Oakhamian has as its cover story the feature ‘Together Apart’, which shows through words and pictures provided by pupils and staff how our Oakham community remained connected despite the challenges we all faced during the past academic year.
Another historic event provides the cover story for the Old Oakhamian magazine as we travel back in time – 50 years to be precise – to discover more about the ‘Story of Co-education’ when the first girls joined Oakham School. The feature provides a fascinating insight into the experiences of those early pioneers of co-education 50 years ago and how it shaped the Oakham School that we know today.
As well as the other regular features – academic success, music and drama performances, House news and sporting triumphs – in the Oakhamian we take a look at another anniversary as Oakham School celebrates 20 years of teaching the IB Diploma alongside A-levels.
In the Old Oakhamian, rugby coach Ian Smith reflects on his career coaching Oakham’s rugby stars and rugby’s emotional return to Doncaster Close fixtures in September. The magazine is also packed full of interviews with alumni sharing their memories of Oakham and their careers since leaving the School.
