Art Exhibition by Oakham School's Art staff

An exhibition featuring personal artwork by Oakham School’s Art staff, showcasing the talents within the department, opened last week

in the Oakham School Library.

The Art department staff (support and teaching staff) all make their own work alongside their teaching, and this exhibition reflects the wide range of approaches they take in their work.

The exhibition includes a beautiful sculptural piece by Vladimir Pamihov using reclaimed materials, Jess Gilbert has included some of the recent work she has produced for the Masters that she is studying for in Art and education, and Wendy Greaves displayed recent work that reflects her love for Cornwall and Devon through her accomplished textile landscapes. Kate Stanbridge exhibited some of her detailed relief prints describing teapots, Debbie McDonald included her intricately drawn animal portraits, Annie Nelson presented large-scale expressive paintings full of mystery, and Cathy Stephenson shared expressive landscape paintings. Laura Taylor added her delicate embossings combined with intricate architectural drawings and Director of Art Elinor Brass brought together collage work in response to a recent trip to Margate.

Elinor said, “I think it is really powerful for the students to see that making art is an important part of their Art teachers’ lives and that they are engaged with the challenges that being creative can present.”
