Upper School students of A-level and IB Spanish enjoyed a cinematic treat with this term’s choice of film.
Head of Spanish, Cameron Pauls tells us more:
"BLANCANIEVES is a gothic melodrama inspired by the Brothers' Grimm tale. Pablo Berger’s masterful take on the favourite children’s story weaves the upper school themes of tradition, society, family, art and music into a spectacular tapestry, which anyone with a love of all things Spanish would fail to enjoy. Set in 1920s south of Spain, BLANCANIEVES is a tribute to silent films. Winner of 10 Goya Awards: including Best Picture and Best Actress (Maribel Verdú), it also triumphed at the San Sebastian Film Festival where it won a Special Jury Award and award for Best Actress (Macarena García). The evening ended with a rapturous applause endorsing the department’s firm belief that enrichment is actually the foundation of the classroom."
