U18 and U16 Girls' Indoor Hockey Teams win County Cup

Oakham’s U18 and U16 girls’ indoor hockey teams won the County Cup yesterday, not conceding any of their fixtures at this stage of the tournament.

The U18 girls played a tight match against Uppingham resulting in a draw (2-2), which was followed by a dominant victory against Welbeck (6-0). Further positive attacking hockey saw wins against Leicester Grammar School 2-0 and Ratcliffe 2-0.

The U16 team also performed superbly with a comfortable win against Uppingham (9-2).

James Bateman, Director of Hockey said, “It is excellent to see us continue our cup run, which reflects the players’ dedication and commitment to the sport.”

It is an incredible achievement that all seven of the Oakham hockey teams entered into the Schools Championships Cup have now progressed to the Regional Finals, six teams of which are County Cup winners.
