U14 girls county hockey success!

The U14A girls have finished runners up in the County Championships and are through to the Midland Zonal tournament.

The competition took place at Leicester Grammar School with six teams from across the County taking part.

The girls enjoyed five wins at the tournament, conceding just one goal all day. They played some superb attacking hockey with several well-taken goals and beat Uppingham (1-0), Ivanhoe (4-0), Welland Park (7-0), Leicester Grammar (1-0) and Loughborough (1-0). The final game against Ratcliffe, which was tightly contested saw the team narrowly missing out on a win (0-1).

Director of Hockey Mr James Bateman said, “Overall it was an extremely successful afternoon, and the girls played some brilliant hockey. The team is now looking forward to further success in the zonal tournament.”

Oakham hockey has had a great season so far with a string of successes including the 1st XI Hockey team winning the U18 County Cup for the eighth year running! .
