Seventh Form Spanish students in stunning Salamanca
24 November 2015
“The first week of October half term has long been associated with the Seventh Form trip to Spain and this year has seen them benefit from an entirely different experience altogether.
The stunning city of Salamanca was the destination, chosen for its clearly spoken Castilian Spanish and student feel (it boasts the oldest university in Spain) not to mention offering our Seventh Formers the opportunity to experience the best ‘marcha’ offered anywhere.
With the combination of staying with host families, language classes and work experience, our ‘hispanists’ were given the perfect opportunity to practise their Spanish throughout the day and into the evening.
Whilst the experience started out as rather daunting, our students quickly grew in confidence and vocabulary as did their love of this city, the jewel in Spain’s crown.
A testament to the trip’s success: yes, the students would most definitely recommend such an experience; yes, they would do it all again; a resounding ‘yes’ that their Spanish has improved as a consequence; and yes, they will be returning to Salamanca as soon as they can – of that I was emphatically assured. “
