Students at Oakham School are today celebrating their GCSE results – in particular the 31 Oakhamians who achieved straight A*/A grades!
Four students - Amelia Hubbard, Alex Cooper, Meg Lockwood and Milly Hitcham - have even more reason to celebrate, having achieved the top A* grades in all of their 10 or 11 GCSE exams! Another 18 Oakhamians achieved at least 7 A*s.
Overall, students excelled across the wide range of subjects on offer at Oakham, including Fine Art and Spanish where nearly 90% of students were awarded A*/A grades. Students who took Classical Studies excelled too with close to 90% achieving A*/A grades in Latin, and 100% in Greek.
“I’m delighted to see so many Oakhamians achieving the top marks,” says Headmaster Nigel Lashbrook. “However, grades on a piece of paper are, of course, just one part of the Oakham journey. My heartfelt congratulations go to all of our GCSE students for not only working incredibly hard to prepare for these examinations, but for simultaneously, and in many instances highly successfully, taking part in everything else that Oakham has to offer beyond the classroom,” says Mr Lashbrook.
