Last Friday saw teams of Form 6 students put their creative talents and their crafting skills to the test, as they made a fashion garment within a short period of time for the inaugural 'Anna and Anastasia Fashion Show'.
Housemistress Mrs Annette Lear tells us more:
“This student inspired event was held in memory of two wonderful Oakhamians who both had an enormous sense of style and fun, who tragically lost their lives in December 2014. Anna and Anastasia would have loved to have seen the energy and imagination that went into putting together some amazing outfits. They would have also appreciated the wide variety of fun and interesting modelling techniques used to display them on the Barraclough catwalk!
Teams of five from the Middle School houses had been given just one week to examine a bag of eclectic materials, ranging from car cleaning sponges to garden wire and wallpaper! They were tasked to design their garment beforehand, but were only given the night of the show to actually create their pieces.
Their efforts produced some outstanding results, which hugely impressed Mrs Fairley and Mr Wills, the judges of the catwalk show.
The event was to remember and celebrate Anna and Anastasia - so the focus really was on taking part and having fun. However, thanks to their particularly impressive creations, the teams from Haywoods and Stevens did return to their houses with prizes of Easter eggs.
A huge congratulations go to all who made the evening such a resounding success.”
