Oakham School’s annual Big Band Concert on the last night of the Summer Term was once again a feast of exhilarating music-making that was massively enjoyed by a packed audience. Under the spirited direction of Head of Brass & Percussion, Mr Steve Foster, the Big Band rose to the challenge of delivering a full evening’s programme of music, and offering the audience a chance to take to the dancefloor for their final few numbers.
They were joined by seven talented singers throughout the evening, who performed popular and jazz standards with flair and poise, accompanied by the full band or by the rhythm section. Mr Foster himself demonstrated his own extraordinary abilities as a trumpeter in a performance of the challenging Latin American Tico Tico, and a number of the band members also featured as soloists.
Overall, it was certainly a night to remember! Congratulations to all our musicians.
