Congratulations to Form 2 pupil Teddy who has landed a hat trick of titles, winning the U14, U16 and U18 Lincolnshire County Golf Championships. This remarkable feat is not known to have been achieved before since the competition started in 1937.
The tournaments were played in one day over 36 holes (2 rounds) at Cleethorpes Golf Club in difficult conditions, but this didn’t seem to affect Teddy, as he posted a score of 74 (4 over). By the end of the morning, he was placed 4th overall (1st U14, 2nd U16). In the afternoon he shot 74 again including “chipping in” on the 18th hole. The other competitors struggled in the conditions and Teddy secured championship victory by 3 shots.
Teddy, an integral Junior member of the Burghley Park Golf Club, has only been playing Golf for two years and has already reached a handicap of 3.6. Last September he was selected for England Golf U18 Regional (East Midlands) training squad, which involves a series of group coaching sessions, one-to-one coaching, and matches against other England regional teams. He also plays for Oakham School’s 1st team.
Master of Golf Mr Steve Foster said, “I am so proud of Teddy, who has made great sacrifices to train and develop his talents including giving up Cricket and Hockey, which he used to play at County level. His remarkable achievement is well deserved and we look forward to following his progress.”
