Summer Trips Summary

This summer, students from Oakham have visited countries across the globe – taking part in a vast array of different activities – from Sport in South Africa, Music in Italy and CCF in Norway!

The biggest tour saw over 140 Oakhamians travelling the length and breadth of?South ?Africa to play Rugby, Hockey and Netball.

A smaller expedition involved nineteen cadets from Oakham School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) visiting the Telemark region of southern Norway to undertake their four-day assessed Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. They covered 25 km each day as well as taking in the region’s military history and undertaking community work.

The longest tour saw an adventurous group of students taking part in a month-long expedition to Nepal - trekking and exploring the diverse culture.

Also members of Oakham's Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, as well as the Chapel Choir travelled to Northern Italy performing in some of the country's finest cathedrals.?

Many trips over the summer (indeed the last year too) had a charitable focus – most notably the one to India, where a group of students travelled to Rasulpur to continue working on a school building project in partnership with The Doon School in Dehradun.

Over the course of the last academic year, culminating in this raft of summer excursions, Oakhamians have enjoyed over 100 separate trips across the UK and the world. Other particularly memorable ones included our seventh visit to Africa to support primary schools and a diving trip to Mexico.
