Students selected for English Schools Cross-Country Championships

Oakham School runners have been selected to represent Leicestershire and Rutland in the English Schools Cross-Country Championships in Leeds this Saturday.

Peter and Ewan (both in Form 3) will be competing in the Junior Boys Class, whilst Rory (Form 4) will be competing in the Inter Boys and Hayden (Form 6) in the Senior Boys group.

The boys’ excellent performances in the cross country trials v Ratcliffe College helped them secure a place in the Leicestershire and Rutland team.

Director of Athletics Mr Trefon Vandoros said, “It is a fantastic achievement to be selected for the teams, as there are only 6 runners chosen for each age group in the region. Well done also to Rory who has been asked to run in a higher age grade, which is exceptional. It will be a tough competition that will see the best athletes compete against each other and we wish them all the best of luck.”
