Student's gold medal success in Judo

Form 3 pupil Amy recently won two gold medals for her impressive judo skills. She won one of the gold medals in her weight category at the IAPS Judo Congress for Girls in High Wycombe for the second year running.

Immediately following this success, Amy earned a second Gold medal through a mixture of skill and determination at the Northern Home Counties Regional British Schools Championships.

This talented Oakhamian had already won gold in the Midlands Championships late last year for the third year running, which secured her a place at the National British Finals in March, and entered the Northern category for a chance to compete against different competitors.

Amy has been practising judo for over five years and is attending a special training weekend in Cardiff this half term, where Olympians and World Championship attendees will be on hand to give advice and inspiration.

Amy’s main aim now is to gain a podium place at the National Finals and we wish her luck in the Championships.
