The Geography department took 20 Seventh Form geographers to the Institute of Education in London, where they were able to experience university-style lectures from leading academics.

The lectures focused on five global issues through the use of case studies. The five themes were; flooding, migration, climate change, globalisation and oil. The keynote speaker was Professor Iain Stewart, who gave a lecture on oil based on his BBC documentary Planet Oil.

Overall, the day was very enjoyable and not only provided the students with case studies that they can use in their forthcoming exams, but also gave them an insight into university life – something that most students hope to enjoy next year.
