Congratulations to Oakham’s U18 rugby sevens squad who made it to the semi-finals of the Rosslyn Park Schools National Sevens competition for the second year in a row.
En route to the semi-final the Oakham team beat strong opposition from the likes of Bryanstan, Truro, Gordons, Leicester Grammar School, Eton, Loughborough Grammar School, KES Stratford and Sir William Bolase’s Grammar School before narrowly losing against St Peter’s York, 15-19.
Director of Rugby, Andy Rice said: “170 schools enter the Rosslyn Park National Sevens tournament each year, so to reach the last four of this famous competition is no small achievement.”
There was more good news for Oakham’s rugby players as Isaac Thompson was made vice-captain of the England Counties side that beat Ireland twice over Easter and Jack van Poortvliet, on the back of his performances at Rosslyn Park, was selected for the England U18 7s squad.
