Ryan wins place at National Mathematics Summer School

Congratulations to talented mathematician Ryan in Form 5 who has been invited to the National Mathematics Summer School as a result of his excellent performance in the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Intermediate Challenge.

The UKMT Summer School is a week’s residential course for 48 outstanding young mathematicians, which aims to promote a love of problem-solving and help build a community of young mathematicians. This year, it will be held at Woodhouse Grove School in Leeds.

Teacher of Maths, Mr David Russell, said, “Such an invitation is relatively rare and represents an outstanding achievement by Ryan. It will be a fantastic experience and will give him the opportunity to discover exciting aspects of Maths and to challenge ideas.”

Other recent mathematical success has seen 56 Oakham students win awards in the Intermediate Maths Challenge – 12 of whom won gold awards. Additionally, 13 students have qualified to sit the follow-on European Kangaroo papers.
