It has been a fantastic weekend of netball with the girls U14 and U19 teams qualifying for the National Finals.
The U14 squad won every game in their pool, which consisted of West Bridgford (11-5), Repton (9-7), St Georges (14-4), Northampton High School (8-6).
The girls were victorious against Oundle in the semi-final, winning 9-7 after extra time.
Their final match against George Spencer Academy was incredibly tight and they narrowly missed the top spot by one goal in extra time (14-15). This was still enough to secure them a place at the National Finals as regional runners up.
Meanwhile the U19 girls had an exceptionally successful tournament winning every game and many of them comfortably.
They beat all their opponents in their pool including Bourne (14-4), Nottingham Girls’ High School (7-3), Trent (13-3) and Oundle (16-5).
The team, therefore, finished top of the group and played against West Bridgford in the semi-final. The girls continued to play well and easily won 15-4.
Following their winning performances, the U19 team’s final game of the Regionals was against Stamford and after playing some excellent attacking netball, they finished victorious (14-4), claiming the Midlands title.
Director of Netball, Mrs Lauren Nicholls said, “I am delighted for the girls. They were terrific representatives for the School and I am very proud of them. My colleagues have helped them build on last term’s county success and it is great to see the girls developing their skills accordingly. A huge well done also to the U16 team, who came third. Everyone has worked hard and they thoroughly deserve their success.”
