Prep School pupils from Witham Hall, St Hugh’s School and Spratton Hall enjoyed a day of A Midsummer Night’s Dream themed drama and dance workshops as part of Oakham’s Prep School Drama Day.
This is the fourth year running that Oakham has organised this event and it always proves an incredibly popular occasion. The pupils had a fun choreography session learning a dance to a sixties track by The Supremes. They took part in a voice and character workshop to develop some of the characters and a make-up and costume session organised by the Theatre Designer.
The children also did a staging workshop, which focused on the Mechanicals scene from the play.
The sessions culminated in a mini-performance at the end of the day.
Director of Drama, Gilly Norell said, “It was an absolute pleasure to work with the young actors, who were absorbed and fully engaged throughout the day. Our scholars were excellent ambassadors having lunch with the pupils as well as hosting a series of exciting drama games, which, it seems, were the highlight of the day!”
Drama scholarships are offered annually at 13+ and 16+ to help nurture special talent and we hope to see more amazing students on the QET stage in the future.
