We are delighted to welcome acclaimed pianist Anthony Hewitt to perform in the Chapel as part of our popular professional music series. He opens with a fascinating comparative survey of the piano preludes of Chopin and Scriabin, juxtaposing their compositions in corresponding keys. After Scriabin’s musical postcards from European cities, we will hear Mussorgsky’s famous series of musical realisations of paintings by his friend Viktor Hartmann: Pictures at an Exhibition. The musical performance will be enhanced by projections of contemporary artist Klara Smith’s ten exquisite paper cut-outs reflecting each scene or movement.
