Prep school pupils from Witham Hall, St Hugh’s School and Spratton Hall enjoyed a day of Peter Pan themed drama and dance workshops as part of Oakham’s Prep School Drama Day.
This is the third year running that Oakham has organised this event, and it has proved to be yet again a popular and well-anticipated occasion. The pupils practised a choreography routine to ‘Following the Leader’ from Disney’s film of Peter Pan and also learnt two scenes; one involving the Pirates and the other about the Lost Boys. This was all performed to an enthusiastic audience in the School’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre, accompanied by a plethora of plastic swords and night caps!!
Director of Drama Gilly Norell said, “It was an absolute delight to work with the children and see them develop and acquire acting techniques they could use both on the day and in their future dramatic activities. Our Drama Scholars were also excellent ambassadors having lunch with the pupils as well as hosting a series of exciting drama games to make sure that everyone was relaxed, comfortable and having terrific fun! All in all the day was hugely enjoyed by everyone.”
Drama scholarships are offered annually at 13+ and 16+ to help nurture special talent and we hope to see more amazing students on the QET stage in the future.
