OO Tom Croft wins Leicester Tigers' Outstanding Service Award

Congratulations to Old Oakhamian and Rugby legend, Tom Croft (04) who has just won Leicester Tigers’ Outstanding Service Award. This is the second time the award has been given to an Oakham School student in the last three years, with OO Rugby player Matt Smith (04) having won the trophy in 2015/16.

Tom was selected to join the Tigers Academy after leaving Oakham and successfully went on to play for the senior squad winning 4 Premiership titles. He also reached an incredible 40 caps with England and was part of the team on two tours with the British and Irish Lions. Tom retired from professional rugby last year.

Director of Rugby Mr Andrew Rice said, “This is a well-deserved accolade. Tom is a great man on and off field and continues to inspire the next generation of players. We are incredibly proud of him.”

Oakham sees many of its players chosen to play for Premiership Rugby Academies and some going on to win professional contracts and representing their country at full international level, cementing its position as a leading rugby school.
