Congratulations to Old Oakhamian Sam Wolstenholme (17) who has signed a two-year contract as a professional with Wasps Rugby Football Club.
Sam, who played for the 1st XV as Scrum Half during his time at Oakham, went on to play for Yorkshire Carnegie where his strong performances were rewarded with selection for Wasps.
Director of Rugby, Andy Rice, said “This will be Sam’s first foray into Premiership Rugby and it will be a fantastic chance for him to push himself and be competitive at the highest level. He is a very talented player and we look forward to following his progress.”
Oakham School has seen significant rugby news recently including OO Alex Goode who was named European Rugby Player of the Year 2019, and OO Matt Smith and Leicester Tigers player who announced his retirement from professional rugby after a 14-year career, which saw him amass 227 appearances for the club. Current students Sam, Jack and Kit have also achieved international recognition, gaining caps for Wales U19 and England U18 squads.
