OO Annie Whitehall speaks about her career in politics, business and communications.

Oakham School was delighted to welcome back Old Oakhamian Annie Whitehall (11) to speak to current students about her undergraduate study and career in politics, business and communications.

Teacher of Politics and International Relations Joseph Sanders tells us more:-

“Annie combined Politics with Art subjects during her A-levels at Oakham, but it was her love of the former that led her to read Politics and International Relations at the University of Bath.

Following her successful studies, Annie worked for three years in the Civil Service, across government departments including the Ministry of Justice, developing communication strategies on policies ranging from prison warden numbers to deterrence of drink driving. In the last year, Annie has moved into the business world, plying her trade at Unilever, whose products touch 2.5 billion people every day.

Annie spoke to current Form 6 students about how to make the most of their final year at Oakham, the best way to deal with setbacks, and the importance of seeing challenges as exciting opportunities. Her highly relatable advice proved an inspiration for Oakhamians, who engaged her in conversation on areas of mutual passion including CCF, the joy of reading and the day to day of life working on the frontline of politics.

We wish Annie well and hope that she will return to see us again soon.”
