Oakham School recently held its inaugural Big Draw event in the Smallbone Library.
Director of Art Elinor Brass tells us more:-
“The Big Draw is an international drawing festival held annually between 1-31 October, which aims to encourage more people to try drawing. The Library foyer was full of pupils and staff who had come along to the event at the school, which was organised by the Form 7 Art scholars. There was the chance to make a badge, to contribute to a large collaborative drawing or to make a hand-drawn slides which would become part of a short film. It was such a pleasure to share our love for drawing and we will certainly organise another drawing event in the coming months.”
Oakham School aims to make the creative experience of producing Art as accessible as possible, embracing the spirit of Joseph Beuys’ statement “Everyone is an artist”. The Department strongly encourages individual expression, experimentation, and invention in the pupils.
