Oakham's Hockey Success

It’s been an exceptional few weeks for Old Oakhamians’ and Oakham’s top hockey players – playing in matches with their national and club teams:

Form 7 student Matt was part of the winning men’s side in the England Hockey 3 match series vs Ireland. Matt scored 2 goals during the series and was the second youngest member of the squad.

Form 5 student Will represented Beeston Hockey Club U16 in the National Finals. The squad finished in the Top 6 in the country, narrowly missing out on medal matches on goal difference!

OO Kathryn Lane is currently representing England in the Commonwealth Games. The team have just won their Pool games and are now through to the semi-final with the chance of winning medals.

OO Crista Cullen finished as Top Goal Scorer for Wimbledon in the National Conference, scoring an impressive 20 goals.

OOs  Lucas Ward & Tom Schanschieff represented Nottingham Trent University in the BUCS Final. The team drew 1-1 then lost out on penalty strokes to take the Silver Medal.

OO Alice Huddlestone was part of the Beeston Ladies 1st XI Squad that won the National North Conference and will now take part in the National Promotion Play offs for a place in the Premier League next season.

OO Maddie Pearce was part of the Loughborough Students that won BUCS Gold in the recent BUCS Final.

The start of next term is a busy one for Hockey at Oakham with the following competitions: 

-          Boys 1st XI National Semi Final VS Whitgift at the Olympic Park (Then medal match depending on result)

-          Boys U12 Regional Finals

-          Boys U13 Regional Finals

-          Girls U12 Regional Finals

-          Girls U13 Regional Finals
