Last Saturday Oakham athletes excelled in the County Championships at Saffron Lane Leicester winning 43 medals, 25 of which were Gold.

46 Oakham students showcased their talents in event classifications from U13 to Open and won a total of 25 Golds, 9 Silver and 9 Bronze. Two school records were also broken with Form 1 pupil Charlotte running an outstanding 800m race in 2min 26 secs and Form 5 student Oli who jumped 184 cm.

Director of Athletics said, ‘It was a terrific display from the Oakham athletes who have been having a record breaking summer. The students showed determination and resilience and it was excellent to see their efforts being rewarded. It was also an exceptional experience for the younger athletes who were inspired and motivated by the performances of the senior team members and it was fantastic seeing how much support they gave one another.”
