Oakhamians qualify for local counties shooting finals

Three Oakham School pupils have qualified for the shooting final of the U18 Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Target Rifle Shooting Association (NLRTSA.) competition.

Mr Iain Reeves, Master in Charge of Shooting, tells us more:-

“Form 6 students Varvara, Angelina and Michael shot in two very competitive knock-out stages against teams from other schools and shooting clubs within the three counties to reach the final.

In the semi-final Angelina scored an impressive 192 (ex 200). Well done also to Form 4 pupil Sam who, in his first year of shooting, only missed a place in the finals by one solitary point.

The final is due to take place on 23 March at Howell Sports Grounds and this year will see our three finalists pitted against three other finalists from Uppingham School. However as we have also reached the final of the East Midlands Schools competition, which takes place on the same day, we will be shooting the NLRTSA U18s as a postal competition. All cards are to be shot by 15 March and posted to our external scorer.”
