Oakhamians participate in political debate at the MUN conference

14 Oakhamians were invited to the annual one-day MUN (Model United Nations) Conference at Merchant Taylors' School in London representing Norway, Egypt and Ivory Coast.

Head of Politics and International Relations, Mr Laurence Ward, said, “The conference provided a superb platform for students to engage with global politics and debate with their peers about issues that matter and closely follow their Global Politics courses. These ranged from solving the Syrian refugee crisis to ending child slavery.” Laurence continues, “MUN is a simulation of the real United Nations. It allows students of a multitude of ages, abilities and backgrounds to congregate and debate about the issues which are most important to them. The activity is an excellent way to increase self-confidence and rhetorical skills, as well as meet people not only from across the country, but also from other parts of the globe. It empowers them to think of solutions for contemporary issues so they are ready to be the leaders of tomorrow. Congratulations to all of those who took part.”
